The Northeast, and in particular the Mid-Atlantic states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, saw a net loss of nearly 1 million between 2000 and 2004.<br/>

<br/>Yesterday was Queen Elizabeth's 80th Birthday.  If you are lucky and the Queen likes you, she can still make you into a Duke, Baron, Earl, Lord or Knight of the realm.  However, there appear to be at least one Aristocrat left in Virginia - the Earl of Real Estate.  Given the deteriorating real estate market, the Earl can be either one of two things; a) very stupid or b) a brilliant realtor.  Have you ever seen an ad for the "Prince of Plumbers"?<br/>

<br/>You hear stories about sellers slashing listing prices to attract buyers, but home prices nationally have risen more than 10% over the past year.  That leads people to take more risks than they should.  The idea here is that if people's monthly payments to own a house are much higher than what they would spend to rent the same place, tax considerations included, then they must be banking on prices going up so they can sell for a profit someday.<br/>

When the condo tower is complete, Watermark will move its branch into ground-floor space in the new building.  Watermark doesn't know yet how much it might get for the sale of the headquarters building, but the capital it raises would be "put into more branches for our members," Sparrow said.<br/>

All told, Rowe said the development firm has taken reservations for 40 percent of the units, which range in size from about 1,500 square feet to 3,500 square feet.<br/>
